2003-07-07 11:59 PM Tie me up and make me write pagan romance: 231
Heh. Never got around to writing anymore yesterday, journalwise. Which in a way was a good thing—I was productive and happy. So, yesterday: I finished the Sage journal and sent it off, and prepared my invoices for mailing. [dusts off hands] I sent another query regarding What Beck’ning Ghost, and have to more to prep today. I reviewed “Heaven Has Eyes” and started sending it out for crit. I got through a _lot_ of e-mail—cut through more than half in the Drafts folder. Ken’s mom came over to let us borrow a dolly so we could move the old pool equipment (the old filter and an ancient heater) out to the curb for trash pickup. She ended up staying while we watched “Wild Wild West”, which is one of those movies that I was always curious to see but never got around to renting. It got a mere one bone in the Videohound Guide. But we liked it. It was very silly, and we were prepared for silly. Kevin Kline, Will Smith, and Kenneth Branagh are all great actors (although Branagh was somewhat wasted in this role—there wasn’t much depth to the character). I realised something last night/this morning. Instead of working on short stories, what I really want to do is go back to An Ever-Turning Wheel, the romance I set aside to write BH. I’ve written 41K on it already. I know what’s going to happen next, and in the end. I expect it to come out short, but I already know things that need to be added in. Hmmm… Tempting. The closet is finished! The closet is finished! I moved all of Ken’s garb into it, so now the bedroom looks huge (the garb was on a freestanding clothing rack). Of course, now I want to clean all of the shelves in the garage that have SCA stuff on them, because they’re covered with dust... Two swift and speedy people have returned comments on “Heaven Has Eyes”, and they’ve all been super positive. A few tweaks needed here and there, but that’s it. Coolness. You may have noticed that Ken’s not in Korea yet. Things are still up in the air about that. Now it might be a much shorter trip. It’s too complicated and not interesting enough to go into. We’re still waiting on final confirmation of the two-week Portland training, too. I’m just going to enjoy having him around. :-) Today I sent two more queries/partials for What Beck’ning Ghost, for a total of five in the mail (I’ve received two “no thank yous” so far). I also dusted off an old short romance story and did some tweaking and sent it out for crit, because there’s a new market. I both added and deleted, so the above word count isn’t really accurate. Oddly, it wasn’t the story I _meant_ to pull out and work on, but it’s the one that grabbed my wrists and pinned them down so all I could do was type. Or something like that. While making and eating dinner, we watched some “Buffy” reruns tonight. The episode where Spike tries to rape Buffy (if that’s how you view the scene, but let’s not go into that—there are so many problems with the ep as a whole…) and Tara dies, and then the ep in which Willow kills Warren. I didn’t realise that Ken hadn’t seen either of them! He was travelling a lot then. Sheez. I had no idea. Good sewing night tonight; we had four (!) newcomers and Ken gave them a garb tour whilst I helped Dawn finish fitting her cotehardie pattern and helped Meala put together her bliaut.
