2003-10-10 11:59 PM Flying time How did it get to be Friday already?!
Let’s see. I woke up headache-free yesterday, and was grateful. Ken was off on a bank run, so I ate and read and relaxed. When he returned, we showered, and then we helped Ismay with her encampment. Ken took me out for a late lunch for much Brazilian meaty goodness. Mmmmmm. When we came back, he had to deal with money again (it’s getting busy here!), and I found out that folks were looking for me. Turns out they needed someone to baby-sit one of the film crews (as Publicity, I’m part of the Media Team). I was basically told to make sure they were asking for signed releases before they filmed, etc., Well, nobody told me I was going to be in the damn documentary! So, if you watch ABC in Hawaii or Japan, you’ll see me pretending to shop, and trying on Rus Viking hats (which were actually pretty darn cool). I was in my “slumming” garb of short tunic, leggings, sandals, and straw hat, because to go off site, all I’d had to do was change into a t-shirt. If I’d known, I would’ve dressed better. Argh. Somewhere in there I did buy Ken two books—Life in Italy at the Time of the Medicis, which is out of print and we’d been looking for, and Cut my Cote, which he’d been wanting. I toyed with buying a couple of things, but they didn’t leap out at me, so I’ll see if they’re there later. If not, they weren’t meant to be. I’m working noon to 6 p.m. at Gate today. It’s 9:30 a.m., and I’m trying to decide if I want to work for a bit, or wander Merchant’s Row again. My final Gate shift is 6 a.m. to noon tomorrow (bleah), but then I’m free for the rest of the War. My wonderful friend Muirenn gave me a Dawn action figure! She knew I was looking for one, saw it in the store window, and snapped it up. It remains to be seen if it’s the right scale to go with Umberto’s action figure that Anwyn made; if it is, I’m shipping it to Australia for a Rhieinwen makeover. Hee.
