Musings About Writing and Stories About Life

She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

And sew it goes

AETW: 0 (sigh)
exercise: vacuuming

What a lovely day! I slept well, got up at a reasonable but not-too-early (for me)hour. Made an omelette with some fresh parmesan and artichoke-lemon pesto, and bacon. Typed in what I wrote yesterday, and was pleased. It wasn’t a lot, but it worked.

Answered e-mail, worked on various little things, and eventually Albra showed up in the evening. We chatted and then headed out to Todai, my favourite sushi restaurant. Not the absolute best sushi in the world, but damn good, and most importantly, it’s an all-you-can-eat buffet. I don’t know the names of any sushi bits. I know how the stuff I like looks. Cat joined us, and we all ate very well. Albra had her pedometer on still, and noted how many steps she’d walked going around the sushi bar, which made me laugh and laugh.

We came home, and Cat wisely crashed. Albra and I, on the other hand, opened a bottle of champagne and headed out to the sewing studio. She outlined the pattern of a bog dress (Viking, Hrojoqxv [note: check spelling ] #38) for me, and cut the dress pieces out of a lovely olive green wool for herself. I’m going to make mine out of the abundance of peacock blue wool that I have. Meanwhile, I started sewing together the neverending cotehardie (!!). The front panels are sewn together. It looks like it’s longer than necessary, so no extra beading at the hem will be needed. Next step, back panels, and then pieces to pieces. And then cutting out and beading sleeves. Yeah baby. The end may, in fact, be in sight. I also edged some linen hankies to embroider, and would have cut out more of a Persian coat from white linen had it not been 1:30 a.m. More will be done tomorrow.
