2004-02-26 11:59 PM Proper support is crucial Sorry for the lack of entry yesterday. Wait—no, really, I’m not. Ya’ll know why I was too busy to post. [eg]
Picked Ken up at the airport with only a small hitch, and then we came home and made lunch. We spent the entire day relaxing, watching a lot of TV so the DVR doesn’t start deleting things: a “Joan of Arcadia”, a “CSI”, a “Frasier”, a “Keen Eddie”, and two “Angels”. Two more “Angels” to go, because one recorded last night. And I seemed to eat constantly. I just never seemed to be satisfied. (Oh, stop it, filthy-minded people! I’m talking about food! Everything else was more than satisfactory, thankyouverymuch.) We had a normal supper, as did Cat, and then at about 9:30 p.m. we all ordered pizza. Sheez. It _poured_ rain last night. I missed all the warnings about it, so I was rather amazed. It became a running joke; every time I fast-forwarded (and thus there was no TV sound), I said, “Wow, it’s really coming down out there.” I kept saying it in, even in the middle of the night when I got up to go to the bathroom and it wasn’t raining anymore. Heh. The pool is now very full, but it’s blindingly sunny. We’re going to hop on the bike and run errands soon. Today’s lingerie model looks a little like Meg Ryan, which is nice. I showed her to Ken, and commented that her top was too long, and it made her torso look chunky. Then I thought about this, and said, “Men and women look at this differently, don’t they? You just would never notice that her top makes her torso look chunky, would you?” Heh. <><><> Errands together today. First we went up to a shop called The Wizard of Bras. Because I gained weight, and now I’m losing it, I have no idea what my size actually is. The last bras I bought, from Lane Bryant, were 40DDDs. Turns out that, at least right now, I’m a 36F. (And 100% natural, baybee.) I have a small torso, relatively speaking. Anyway, I came away with two dark bras, one white bra, and one push-up bra—and a badly needed bathing suit (the only one I have that fits is some cheapo thing I grabbed in Britain). A few minutes ago, I dumped something like seven bras in the garbage. I kept one old on that’s a little small, so it may fit properly when I lose a few more pounds (otherwise it’ll hit the trash), and the white one that has two little Sharpie dots that correspond with the beginning and end of the “L” when Larry signed my Styx shirt. I know, I’m goofy. It’s just hard to actually throw it out yet. Then we came back and dropped off the GP, and tried the one Chinese place I knew of (the one that was closed when Cat & I tried to go to it). Turned out it was only a buffet. And it was pretty bad. Mushy vegetables, questionable meat. The spring roll was okay, and the hot-and-sour soup was passable. Then we went to Barnes & Noble, and bought the Lonely Planet Guide to Baja California (because Rough Guide doesn’t make one, just an overall Mexico one—phooh) and Albert Zuckerman’s Writing the Blockbuster Novel, which I have to read for the OCW workshops this year. (I have to reread the Donald Maass book, too, for myself.) And I preordered the new Guy Gavriel Kay, which is due out on the 2nd, but is appearing in some stores now, just not the one we were in. We swung by a bike place to look for Clement Salvadori’s Motorcycle Journeys Through Baja, but they didn’t have it. Ken dropped me off at home and popped out to the electronics store, but hark! I hear the bike now. In half an hour we’re going out for sushi with a friend, so I need to get myself presentable. <><><> Mmmmm, suuuuushi. That was really good. Made up for the crap lunch, definitely. Ken got sleepy and lounged on the sofa for a bit, but then perked up. Unfortunately, the DVR was recording two shows, which meant we couldn’t watch a third, for two hours, but we’re getting computer work done anyway. I’ve been reading about Baja California. I think we should spend two nights in Ensenada and one in San Felipe, rather than the other way around. There’s whale watching in Ensenada, and overall it sounds more interesting than San Felipe, which is a haven for snowbirds, RVs, and Spring Break-ers. Where would _you_ go and what would _you_ do in Baja? Read/Post Comments (3) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
