Musings About Writing and Stories About Life

She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

Viewing me

I did a fair amount today, but it was all little, reasonably uninteresting things, so I don’t have a lot to report. I did more work on the BOL booklet and sent it to the event steward with a detailed e-mail about what still needs to be done; then did even more work on it when other people I e-mailed for information provided it swiftly. I ran a few minor errands. I have astonishingly few e-mails in my In Box, although there should be fewer. I watched episode of "West Wing" and “Enterprise”.

I mistakenly read next week’s TV Guide’s summary of “Angel” and learned something that happened in a recent episode (which I’m saving for Ken and I to watch together) (tomorrow! Less than 12 hours, even!). Something major, even. Shit. I bemoaned the general fact to Cat (only that I’d read a major spoiler) and she asked me to tell her what it was, so we could bemoan together. How sweet is that? And then when I was chatting with Ken (while he was sitting in the Seoul airport), I told him, too. It’ll be interesting to see how it pans out.

Small things. It’s nice to get them done. The problem is, they just don’t feel like enough.

I’ve been listening to a lot of Larry music today. It’s that time of the month, I guess. There’s a hilarious new video at the Styx website. Not that most of you care. Which is fine. I know this is my obsession.

Teresa, upon perusing what we have in iTunes, expressed her surprise at the diversity of music. And I don’t even think I have any classical (primarily Romantic—Wagner is, and always will be, God) in there yet. I was rather taken aback, until I realised that I don’t talk much about the variety of music I enjoy. I mostly ramble about Styx and SRP, don’t I? Occasionally I blather about my love of women who can belt (Amy from Evanescence, Annie Lennox, Shakespeare’s Sister) or 80s pop/New Wave. But I don’t much mention show tunes (I’m actually sadly lacking in that area, although “Chess” gets frequent play), or Celtic rock (Runrig, mostly so far), or hard-to-classify stuff like Blackmore’s Night. Or regular Celtic and world type stuff (Wolgemut, anyone?). It’s easier to talk about what I don’t have (I’m not fond of rap, because I don’t consider it music, although MC Hammer was fun; I’m not into twangy country but the mainstream stuff is okay; I’m not really into blues or jazz, but I understand the value; apparently I’m lacking in Middle Eastern fusion, which is a category I didn’t even know existed).

Makes me wonder what else I’m not talking about, and thus not giving a full view of Me.

Make no assumptions…
