She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

Bathed in moonlight

Got up at 4:30 a.m. to ablute in time to take Ken to the airport. (Probably got 4–5 hours of sleep.) Came home, went back to bed. Didn’t sleep well—definitely slept, but had all sorts of weird dreams about being back in Britain and missing it terribly. I even e-mailed a friend (in my dream) about wanting to live there again. (Apparently in my dream life, I never had bad medical experiences in Britain.)

The days seem so slow lately, and I feel like I’m barely accomplishing anything. It’s frustrating—in part because I can’t really tell if I just _feel_ like I’m not accomplishing anything, or if I’m really not. I did read two partial ms., answered e-mail (only about 5 in the In Box and 3 in the Drafts folder left), showered &tc., swam, fed myself several times…

Costume Guild tonight, and we discussed Persians. Dammit, now I want to finish mine for Queen’s Champion on Sunday. It’s fairly simple construction, and all I have to do is the undershirt/tunic and the overcoat (I’ve already done pants). The hardest thing is the buttonholes. But Ceridwen probably has a machine that does buttonholes… I’ll look at it again tomorrow. If I can get the bulk of it done quickly, then maybe. We’ll see. I haven’t wanted to sew in, oh, months now, so it’s kind of exciting to get the desire back. I just don’t know if I have the time… (QC is Sunday; we leave Friday early afternoon.)

As I was leaving Ceridwen’s, I saw the full moon glowing, lighting up the sky. But by the time I got home, the marine layer had blocked it out. Sad. It’s a gorgeous cool evening, and I was looking forward to sitting outside (or even going for a swim) bathed in the moonlight.

Oh, and in case anyone had doubts about the awesomeness that is Ken, he fixed the problem in Portland by mid-afternoon. He’s going to do some other work for them over the next day or so, though.

The Boston fab is putting together a quote for him, so he’ll be heading out there this month sometime, probably while I’m on the Oregon Coast.
