2004-06-11 11:59 PM Proposed Day One of the workshop is over. I’m beat, but in such a good way. The critiques went well, and I’ve already learned so much. I’m second-to-last; I would have preferred to go first, but so it goes. The four of us who are staying here during the week, plus the woman who lives in town, are going to rewrite our proposals and exchange them for another critique, and Dean even said he’d read them again as well. I want to rewrite the Blaze proposal (started doing that before I even got here) and possibly the one for WBG and see if folks will look at those.
Depending on how my critique goes, my goal here is to rewrite Rowan and have it ready to submit. There are also a couple of anthologies that I’d like to write stories for. Then, I’m not sure. I do need to get back to AETW and just finish the damn thing. I know some of what’s wrong with it, so I can also work on filling in what’s missing. I had some good ideas in the airport, actually, and scribbled them down. There’s the possibility of writing another Blaze with Sarah, which we’ll talk about when I get to VA. If we do, that’ll be the next book. Of course, I also have a pile of stories that need to be resubmitted, and a smaller pile that need rewriting, and even a few languishing half-written ones… It’ll be interesting to see if this list of projects changes at all after the Story Structure/Writing Faster workshops next weekend.
