Musings About Writing and Stories About Life

She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

Go me!

Always a Bridesmaid: 1000

I never had a chance to use the computer yesterday except for taking notes. Busy day, lots of critiquing and learning. The critique of Waking the Witch went very well, and I feel hugely positive about it. I’m going to do my best to get it whipped into shape this week. It’s not a romantic suspense, I’ve learned. It’s women’s fiction. Dang. Go me.

I was up until 3 a.m. hanging out with people, so I slept in. Woke up before I wanted to, with a headache, but drugs and a hot shower and tea solved that problem. Chatted with people until it was time for the weekly Sunday lunch on the hill, which had 12 writers, some from the workshop, others local. Then Phaedra, Karen, and I went to a charming little Internet café, where I cleaned 150 e-mails out of my In Box. Finally we went off to Safeway and stocked up on groceries for the week.

I’m going to dive into an antho story about a naughty detective…

3:30 a.m. Went to see “Harry Potter”, which was almost 3 hours long, and then hung out talking with folks until 2 a.m. Story finished. Go me!
