Musings About Writing and Stories About Life

Another 3 a.m.

Always a Bridesmaid: 2400
Blaze synopsis: rewritten

After I went to bed last night, I realised all of the things that were wrong with the story. :-) I’d taken a cozy mystery I’d written for Women’s World and added sex, and it didn’t all fit right. That was actually an exploratory draft; now I know how the story should be laid out. This writing stuff…it’s kinda weird, but it’s kinda fun, too.

Phaedra and Karen drove Paul back to Portland this morning so they could go to Powell’s, but I declined so I could work. Now that I’ve wasted a couple hours reading, I’m going to get started.

Story done. Blaze synopsis rewritten. Long walk on beach taken. Earl Grey drunk. (Had no idea he was such a lush.) Shower imminent, followed by work on another synopsis.

It’s a glorious day, sunny and cool, and there were only a few people on the beach, so I was free to spin giddily when the mood struck me. Well, I’m always free to do that. I prefer not to hit anybody in the process.

Dammit, I managed to stay up until 3 a.m. again! Sheez. Loren, Phaedra, Karen, and I watched “Pitch Black” so we could see “Chronicles of Riddick” this week. It was pretty good. Some of the filmography was stunning. The best eye candy died too early and the person who pissed me off died too late (but had such a fitting death). Afterwards, Loren, Phaedra, and I kept talking until, well, now.

Everyone thinks my new version of the story is much better. Loren didn’t think the proposal worked, but I’m waiting to get other feedback.

Tomorrow I need to borrow Phaedra’s tape recorder so I can transcribe the notes about WtW, and then get to work on that. So, off to bed with me!
