Musings About Writing and Stories About Life

She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

Erranding

Happy, um, Day After Poxing Day, I guess…

We took advantage of a lull in the rain to run errands this afternoon, and ran them for at least four hours, and I am completely knackered. I just want to curl up in front of the TV with a good movie and my embroidery. But I have Things to Do, especially Things to Write. I just need to wake up for them…

Errands included Michaels (for the holiday sales, which were pretty picked through, and some embroidery floss), Big Lots (some kids’ presents for an orphanage in Afghanistan, some presents for my nieces and nephews, garland, and, um, I don’t remember), Target (alas, the trash cans I want for my office are $20 apiece, and I need one for trash and one for recycling. We did pick up a few household items, though), the hardwood shop (wood for my desk and the attic), the 99¢ Store (where we didn’t find what we were looking for, but did end up with, of all things, some food), WalMart (which I normally avoid like the plague for moral reasons, but dammit, they were the only place that had a bunch of things we needed), the Post Office (the Brava novella is outta here!), and the library (ack! The YA section is so dangerous!).
