2005-02-19 11:59 PM They have a plan... Words Written: AETW: 1264
Our friend Donna is in town (well, LA, anyway) on one of her quarterly visits, so she and Gillian came up today, so Donna could see the house. We did the full tour, and then went to lunch at Roxbury Deli. All of this took a lot of time because we talk a lot when we get together. Obviously, these are people we should see more frequently. (Ooh, foreshadowing!) The weather couldn’t decide whether it wanted to be sunny, dark, or raining. It was sunny here and pouring in LA when they left. It remained sunny-ish while we cruised to Roxbury Deli in Gillian’s convertible with the top down. Then, went we headed to the Ventura Harbor, it got cold and dark. (I finally realized that it wasn’t as dark as I thought; I was just still wearing my sunglasses.) When we got to the harbor, it started to rain. Argh. We had gone to see the Tall Ships, but they were way, way, way out to sea. (I hadn’t been able to find a schedule online, so we didn’t know until after we made plans for today that the ship tours were only in the morning. Grrr.) So we went to a bakery and ate lovely sweet things and drank tea and made fun of a little Ojai paper and talked about potential “Highlander” movies that should never be made. Then we went back out to the beach, where it was now grey and windy but not raining, and watched the ships come in. Ken got some good photos, including one of three goofy women with a Tall Ship in the background. We decided that the show was over and turned away, at which point the ship fired its cannon. Heh. It heard us. Anyway. On the way home we talked about “Young Blades”, on which Gillian is one of the writers. They had to leave soon thereafter to go to a party in LA, but our goodbyes didn’t have to be long and involved, because Gillian’s hosting a gaming party tomorrow. (See, I told you that was foreshadowing up there.) I did some writing before they showed up this morning, and did a bit more tonight. It actually started going well for once. Hurrah! Then we ate dinner, watched some TV, and tried to head for bed, but got sucked into the office. Really, I’m off to bed now. I have dragged myself away from my new favorite website, www.televisionwithoutpity.com (Cat, you’ll love it), which is all about sarcastic recaps of popular television shows. --- Currently Reading: Men Writing Science Fiction As Women anthology, for the workshop (no, that’s not the same one as before—look closely!) Lately Listened To: Enya, The Celts Recently Watched: “Young Blades”, “Battlestar Galactica” (We’ve figured it out: Everyone on the whole show is a Cylon. And there are sleepers in Hollywood running the show on TV. The Cylons are coming…) Read/Post Comments (1) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
