She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

We grovel in the shadows

Words Written: 0

Well. So. I’m only in half a panic about the con and the panel right now (as opposed to full-on panic mode ). Lovely, lovely friends are sending me ideas and themes and book and movie titles (how could I have forgotten Practical Magic?! Maybe because it’s not really pagan per se, but it’s still something to consider). I’ll have to make a list at some point, maybe post it somewhere. Which ones deal with the pagan religions, which ones deal with magic, which ones deal with alternate/non-Christian but non-pagan religions, etc. Thanks especially to those wonderful friends who gave me little pep talks and told me I’d do brilliantly. I figure, worst case, I don’t say much, or I comment on things others have said. As long as I can string words into sentences and make a modicum of sense, I’ll be okay.

Meanwhile, I know I still have to get the notes written up (which I’ll do tomorrow night, so don’t stop sending ideas!) (do panelists bring notes? If not, I’ll just use them to organize my thoughts ahead of time), and some pitches (just in case), but I think that’s do-able. And I have a lead on someone I might be able to carpool with, which will reduce the stress of trying to navigate (to correct my nearsightedness properly, everything has to be scaled down, and I often can’t read road signs until I’m right underneath them).

The con does look like fun, even if, at this point, I don’t know anybody who’s going. (I’ve determined that a lot of people I know aren’t going, alas.)

Carpooling doesn’t look like it’s a go. Ah well. I get free parking, which is kind of spiffy.

But why did they schedule the costuming panel at the same time as the Whedonverse panel? Dangnabbit.

Okay, I’ll stop talking about this now.

Morgana and Brian kindly fed me tonight, and we three and Elizabeth handled Lick-n-Stick, and then, instead of Healing Circle, we sat around drooling over M&B’s goodies from their recent trip to Britain. I was reminded that I had no right to be jealous, but I still am. (I mean, at least allow me to be jealous about Castlerigg Stone Circle, because when went there it was closed because of Foot-and-Mouth Disease and it didn’t reopen before we moved back to the US.) “You realize,” I said to Morgana at one point, “that we grovel in the shadow of your superior knowledge.”

After that, came home, fed the frantic cats, paid bills, talked to Ken, downloaded some stuff for the con, and now it’s after my bedtime and I’m going to be a hurtin’ puppy tomorrow so I’m off to bed.

Okay, one more con thing:

Ron Moore! Connor Trinnear! Steven R. Boyett! Nancy Holder! J. Michael Straczynski! Squee!

Fangirl mode: off.
