She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

Pre-elevensies

Since you wonderful, lovely people were all so helpful with healthy vegetable suggestions (‘though I’m still waiting on recipes from Keilyn and Darren!), I’m going to pose a new question to you:

Breakfast...?

I need to eat healthier breakfasts, and I’m all for suggestions. But, I have very specific criteria about breakfast food:

  • nothing sweet (that includes fruit)
  • must take 5 minutes or less to prepare
  • must be more than just carbs (because otherwise I’m hungry before I even get to work)
  • no oatmeal-type substances (bleah)
  • nothing too heavy or filling (I’m often not hungry when I wake up, but I need to eat something so the tea doesn’t upset my stomach)
I think that’s it, but I’ll add more criteria here if I think of any.

I’m not fond of cereal—I think it’s one of the stupidest inventions. Who came up with the ridiculous idea of taking a crunchy food and pouring milk on it, thus making it a ticking time bomb of a meal, making you eat it as fast as possible so the last bits don’t get soggy before you get to them? I mean, come on! It’s absurd.

That said, I had Raisin Bran for breakfast today, and it was adequate.

I was also thinking of hard boiling eggs ahead of time, but what would I eat with a hard-boiled egg? Slice it and make a sandwich?

I was never so content with breakfast as when we traveled in Germany. It truly made me understand that part of my genetic makeup. Rye bread, hard-boiled eggs, salami, cheese… Now that is breakfast!

I’m looking forward to hearing everyone’s suggestions!
