2005-07-30 10:57 PM Sticking a fork in it Words written: CSF edited-phew!
Whew! One novel, edited! I suppose it could use another pass, but Teresa and I agreed that we're a little sick of it and a little too close to it right now. The editor will have edits for us (it always happens, so it won't be a surprise) and we can catch any bobbles we might have missed. It's off to Teresa for one more pass (mainly to check a scene I changed, and to answer a question that cropped up well after she'd gone to bed on the East Coast), and then tomorrow I can make any final touches and send it out. Meanwhile, Teresa will get “All About the Ratings” back to me tomorrow for a final pass. I should probably do a little work on “Breakfast in Bed” before I fully fall over tonight. But we'll see. At absolute worst, I'll e-mail the editor and tell him it'll be a day or two late. I think he'll understand, what with a full novel manuscript hitting his desk. :-) My comp copy of Sex…at the Sports Club arrived today, with our story “On His Honor.” It'll be available for order on 4 August in the UK and 30 September in the US, as near as I can tell. Not sure if major bookstores in the US carry the series, but I will let ya'll know when I find out. Oh, and yesterday the galleys for the next Wicked Words anthology (Sex…in Uniform, with our story “Slow Burn”) also arrived, but they're not due back until next week, so they're not on the immediate To Do list. Editing wasn't the only thing I did today, amazingly. We watched “Battlestar Galactica” and one of the “Young Blades” episodes that my friend Gillian wrote (and briefly appears in!) because Ken hadn't seen it. We invited Brian over for dinner, since Morgana is at Costume College-grilled pork chops with lemon-butter-mustard-paprika-green-onion sauce, sautéed zucchini marinated in a lemon-garlic sauce, and au gratin potatoes (from a box-don't expect miracles, okay?). And British chocolates for dessert, natch. After that, Ken and Brian wandered off to do some shopping for Pirate Tourney supplies (Ken is creating all sorts of wild and unusual fighting scenarios), and I went back to, you guessed it, editing. Tomorrow there will be editing, and writing, and designing, and finishing largesse for Pennsic, and possible errands, and…well, who knows? Half the fun of tomorrows is not knowing everything they'll bring. ----
