Musings About Writing and Stories About Life

She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

Words written: no writing, but CSF proofing

I know my job is wearing on me when I start thinking about things I would cook if I worked at home. (As in, “Ooh, we haven’t had beef stroganoff in a while. I could make it in the crock pot. And didn’t we find another good-sounding crock pot recipe that we never got around to making? I want to play with the crock pot.”)

It looks like Ken may come home early! Perhaps not early enough to go to Manhattan Beach tomorrow night to see Day After Daze (the band that Todd Sucherman, drummer for Styx, drums with when Styx isn’t on the road), but perhaps as early as tomorrow night! (And we’re definitely going to see Day After Daze on Saturday night.) Plus, the work is going well, and he made a big breakthrough. Much happiness.

Afalwen is home! That’s right, I mailed my laptop for repair on Tuesday, and had it back on Thursday. Awesome.

So, it’s possible that I am one of the few authors who’s ever requested a publisher’s style guide to help with my review of the proofs. And it’s also possible that Black Lace’s style guide is the only one to contain this rule: “Similarly, ‘sir’ and ‘madam’ should be in lower case, except at the top of a letter. Victoriana or SM erotic novels obey different rules.” (I wonder if the pun is intended?) [giggle]
