2006-01-18 11:03 PM Drafty Words Written: (Tuesday) Angelika 2678; (Wednesday) Angelika 2330
I’ve spent this morning doing work things both related and not related to writing, and I’ll start the actual writing after lunch. I finally did another pass through my website, checking the changes the lovely and talented Hope made and catching any bobbles that arose in the process. And having her add my latest sale. :-) We’re close to launching it—the delays are really only my own fault at this point. I’ve also done ABC-CLIO work, and need to log back on later in the afternoon to check on some things. And my personal/writing In Box is empty for the first time in a while! (It was consistently down to two or three things for the past week or so.) I do have an “Après Trip” folder, but that’s mostly stuff I can’t deal with here, such as things that need printing. Last night we went to Lev & Gayle’s, and we all went out for Indian food at an Indian restaurant we all always go to. Because it’s that good. (I’d say it’s my second-favorite Indian restaurant, but as the first is in Newport, Wales, I have a better chance of getting to this one. Sadly, the only one left in Ventura is mediocre.) Anyway, I had a most excellent shrimp biryani, and the garlic naan was to die for. Lots of leftovers for lunch in a few minutes, hurrah! Then we all relaxed in their hot tub and had a truly wonderful time chatting. We don’t see them nearly enough, muttergrumble. <>-<>-<> Ahh, that’s better. The writing finally started to flow again today. The past couple of days I’ve been sticking on thoughts of “there’s not enough plot,” “there’s no tension,” etc., but I reminded myself that it’s a dare, it’s supposed to be words on the page, and it will sort itself out. The main scene I wrote today is one that I had in my head—but I have no idea if it’ll actually be where I put it. Doesn’t matter. I got the scene written, and it’s a good one. (Okay, I did realize at the end that I never described the three people in it, but that’s fixable in the next draft. You can’t fix it if it’s not on the page first.) <>-<>-<> We went out for Italian food again tonight, at a local restaurant. Capellini with arugula, roma tomatoes, pine nuts, and feta. Mmm… Also amazing foccacia. I have two pieces of that plus half my pasta for lunch tomorrow. ---
