2006-01-16 11:59 PM Mizithra madness Words Written: Angelika 680
Blah. A very blah-ish kind of day. I had little energy and was feeling just a tad under the weather, yet I was restless and distracted. Bad combination. I spent most of my focused time (which wasn’t very focused, really) working—on the “day job” rather than the writing, unfortunately. But I really did need to do a solid chunk of that day job work. It was frustrating, though, because the $*(@$% Windowscrap interface kept freezing up. It’s bad enough that I have to have the damn program on my writing laptop. This is just insult to injury. And I did exercise, as much as I didn’t want to, and I felt better for it afterwards. Tonight, Ken and I went out to dinner at The Old Spaghetti Factory. I don’t know whether the building was built for the restaurant or if it was something older, but it was stunning, and the late Victorian décor was spot on, right down to the tiles on the bathroom floor. Enormous stained glass panels, stunning light fixtures, and we sat in big ol’ high-backed crimson upholstered chairs that felt like thrones. I had Greek chicken cooked in olive oil and lemon along with spaghetti in brown butter and mizithra cheese. I tried not to moan aloud in ecstasy. I have enough for lunch tomorrow, too. (Is it time for lunch yet?) We had some time to kill after that, so we wandered around a B&N for awhile. Didn’t buy anything—can’t really justify random new book purchases right now, and we’ll be hitting Powell’s before we leave (and I’ve already checked online to see what books I want are there, because I am that anal retentive, thanks). Then we went to see Fun With Dick & Jane, because the previews made me laugh every time I saw them. It was fun and silly and fluffy, and it was just what my restless self needed. Plus there was a random Styx reference, hee! Now, a bit more wordage to round out the day, and thence to bed, to recharge for a more productive day tomorrow! ---
