I am leaving this blog, leaving it in the capable hands of a very talented, extremely versatile, and downright brilliant critic, writer, thinker, and all around entertainer.
Ladies and Gentlemen, due to the pressing demands of my writing, working, and familial life I must take leave for a time...here he is: Jim Farris!!!!! Hello everyone and thank you Doug. Yes Doug will be away for a while and he very generously asked me to sort of guest write his "Silly Thinking" blog.Doug has said I can write about whatever I want to. So in the coming days I will be exploring the lower depths of politics, show business, and my own carefully manufactured persona for some hilarious and thought provoking... uhh.. things. So see you all on Monday when I will be writng my first posting: "Doug Lain Gone and All But Forgotten" right here at "Silly Thinking with Doug Lain, Now Fair and Balanced". And now here's Doug again because he is a controlling meglomaniac. Now don't fret. Despite the inane babble that is this first foray above I have the utmost confidence in Jim. Also, I'll be back on Wednesdays to check in, post a couple of links, and inevitably correct all of the errors Jim has propagated during the rest of the week. Further, this is a short term arrangement, and when I've finished writing my own version of the Great American Novel I'll be back to bore you silly. Finally, some of you may be asking yourself "Who is Jim Farris? When I look him up on Google I see that he is a doctor, a science fiction writer, and an interior decorator living in Des Moines. Well this Jim Farris is indeed all of those things (except he's really not a science fiction writer, and you should see his apartment) but he's also a specific real human being living in Portland with two cats and a lot of movie posters. Want to know more about Jim? Well here are a few pertinent links to enlighten you: Jim's Favorite Dinosaur Picture What Jim (likes)looks like? Jim's favorite place to work.
