Hello everyone, it's me Jim Farris filling in for Doug Lain while he's "on assingment" here on "Silly Thinking With Doug Lain".
It's the last Friday of summer as we head into Labor day weekend so what better time for our Friday Entertainment Report!!!!!

Here in Roseland it's time for one of the biggest events of the season: "The Safeway Bite OF Portland" brought to you by Clear Channel (the right wing radio conglomerate owned by CBS), Widmer Brothers Brewery, Red Hook, Coca-Cola, The Oregon Lottery, Millstone Coffee ( who usually have people dressed up as huge cofee cups walking the grounds), Oil Can Henry's (who either lube cars or people), Broadway Toyota, Meir And Frank, The WB, Twix, NW Natural, Comcast (the cable company that sells personal info on you to any company who pays),Fritos, Kelloggs, Ballys, Sprint (the worst phone company in the world),Marriott, FX, IP, K103, 1190 KEX, 105.9 The River, Z100, and Turtle Island. And that's just a partial list of sponsors.
If you've never been to the Bite (I know Mr. Anti- big business himself Doug Lain has had a booth at the Bite over the years) you go to Waterfront Park to eat at dozens of food booths from local restuaraunts and such. Unfortunatly the only booth without a line is always the Safeway Chinese Food booth. Yukkk! And listen to some great music.This year Blind Boys of Alabama, The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Jackstraw, and headliners Kelly Clarkson and Justin Guarini from "American Idol" will perform.
Gosh! Long lines, Safeway food, and "American Idol" winners. Who says this country isn't great?
I'm grabbing the acid to throw and antacid to take right now!!!

Labor day weekend at the movies usually sucks because the studios don't release anything of note. This weekend is no exception with "The Italian Job" bieng re-released (it came out two months ago) with Mark Whalberg. Why bring it out again? No clue. "Jeepers Creepers 2" comes out today as well. The first "Jeepers Creepers" was far better than you'd expect with a great look and feel (produced by Coppola's American Zoeotrope) and directed by a man who served time for molesting young boys (Victor Salva). So if you like seeing muscular boys with thier shirts off (instead of co-eds) bieng killed by a monster with great sets and lighting don't miss it for your Labor Day fun.

Of course (I haven't confirmed this but I pray it will happen) Labor day weekend is JERRY LEWIS time. MISTER NICE LADY IT'S TELETHON TIME LADY WITH THE NICE THING. MISTER LADY. Now you can see inflated Jerry slobber over corporate executives and sick children for 21 hours!!!

What a weekend, no wonder it's three days long. With "American Idols", sexual predator movie directors, and MISTER NICE LADY all at one time WILL THREE DAYS BE ENOUGH?!
I'll be back on Tuesday while dead celebrities "Silly Think" all weekend.
