Sorry to hear of John Ritter's death last night at age 53. Always heard he was a nice guy and great to work with. Here in Roseville we are getting ready for another BOFFO weekend! Tonight Ravi Shankar returns to the Schnitz for another farewell concert at 7:30 pm. My spies at the box office tell me there are good seats available. The Oregon Symphony begins it's new season Saturday with new conductor Carlos (I AM REALLY HAPPY TO BE HERE... REALLY I AM) Kalamari starting his reign as conductor. Should be exciting to see how he will mold the orchestra and move it out of the shadow of beloved Portland icon James De Priest before he leaves for a wonderful new opportunity that he will swear he made no effort to get. The Broadway musical based on "The Full Monty" plays threw the 14th here. Now you can pay Broadway prices for low end male stripping in a marginally funny show. Ain't show biz great? On the TV the new fall season has begun. Whoopi Goldberg's new show has aired to little buzz and small ratings. She's done isn't she? Here is my list of done celeb's who should just go away: 1. Whoopi. 2. Bruce Willis. 3. Madonna (I don't care who she kisses she's way done). 4. Jay Leno (JUST LEAVE!!) 5. Nicholas Cage. 6. Mark Whalberg (we never cared. We don't care now. We won't care in the future). 7. Former SNL cast members (see #6). 8. Carson Daley (what's with this no talent hack?). At the movies: lame ass post-summer shit still throws itself onto big white walls all over the place with crappola like "Cabin Fever", "Matchstick Men", and last weeks number one box office attraction "Dickie Roberts" in first run houses. Playing down is the breathtaking "Winged Migration", the beautiful "Whale Rider", and Neamo-Keanu in "Matrix 2 Reloaded". And finally, on Saturday, you and your family can move your collective butts to the Alberta Street fair for a day of live music, horse drawn trolley rides, parades, and pet torture (AKA costume pet contests- there ought to be a law against dressing doggie up as Jon Benet Ramsey and parading it up and down in public.)This event is sponsored by the local businesses that line Alberta Street. An event sponsored by the businesses on the actual street it takes place on. How novel is that? Between N.E. MLK and N.E. 31st. on Alberta between 11 am and 6 pm. Well that's it from the wonderful world of entertainment. Join us Saturday and Sunday for our Internet Award winning "A Few Minutes With Dead Celebrites" See you all back here next week.
