and now a great performer and the host of more Oscar presentations than anyone else. MR. BOB HOPE! BH: Yeah that’s something isn’t it ladies and gentlemen? Yeah, it’s great to be here on Oscar weekend or as they call it at my house: Passover. Yeah, The Academy awards are a big night, all the glittering clothes, diamonds, and ruby’s. And the girl’s look nice too. Lucy, Lucille Ball, was going to be here tonight but on her way to the show the Glendale Fire Department tried to put her hair out. But I want to tell you… BH: It’s great to be here in Dong Yang Province with you great guys. Dong Yang, that’s Vietnamese for ‘we give up’. But really it’s great to be here. Yeah I saw one of the generals pass by before the show. I knew he was a general because his uniform had so many eagles on it; a wind came up and he’s somewhere over Saigon right now. Texaco. Wal-Mart. And tonight on Chrysler Theatre we’ve got a story of betrayal and deceit. Sounds like my house. No it’s Frank Lovejoy and Miss Polly Bergen in “Lover’s Slight of Hand”. Phyllis Diller was going to be here tonight but her mix master broke. BH: And what about those Germans? I saw a German officer threw the fence in the holding area, you know for captured enemy troops. He was in the exercise yard before the army doctors were going to experiment on him. They do that here, monkey tranquilizers. And he saw me and ran over to me and said “OH Mr. Crosby The Fuehrer loved you in “Going My Way”. Can you believe that? And now to give out the award for best Set Design for a Motion Picture is a women with a beautiful set her self. Miss Arlene Dahl! Right here! DA: Thank you dead Bob Hope. Dead or alive, still a national treasure. Join us tomorrow for another Oscar weekend special edition of “A Few Moments With Dead Celebrities”. Good night and drive safely. Jim Farris presents Silly Thinking with frequent Award Nominee Douglas Lain. It’s here. We have it. You don’t need to see it. But it’s here, take my word for it.
