This is BREAKING NEWS From ST!

Mt. St. Helens EXPLODES.

Here, from the New York St World News Headquarters in New Jersey is Connie Chung.

CC: Good morning. At 9:02 am this morning Mt. St Helens erupted yet again. This explosion was more forceful than any of the others. We have Jim Farris at Cold Water Lake Observatory, near the mountain, Jim.

JF: Good morning Connie.
Mt. St. Helens blew again today. This one was larger than the others, opening up another hole in the mountain and several vents. The hole is 60 feet long and the vents are small slices, or cracks in the surface. Today the explosion, at 9:03 blew ash, rock, and gas 15,000 feet in the air. The combination of gas and other elements interacted with the environment and created lightning over the mountain.

CC: What about ash dispersal, Jim?

JF: Well, like the other explosions, a relatively small amount of ash was discharged, it is moving southwest, over small towns and farms in Washington. People in the area, particularly people with repertory problems should wear goggles that seal the eyes and masks over their mouths. If the winds aloft shifted, a new weather system could do that as early as tomorrow, populated areas like Vancouver, Washington and Portland, Oregon should remember some safety tips. One, keep children inside if ash is in the air, until it moves on. The media will cover these alerts. Wear masks and goggles if the ash heads your way, particularly if a larger eruption occurs. Keep bottled water, prescription drugs, and food supplies in case it becomes difficult to go out for a few days.

CC: Good advice Jim. Do scientist think these events are building?

JF: Yes. The lava dome is growing as magma from hundreds of miles under the crust of the earth has pushed itself up and continues to do so. The new hole in the mountain is accompanied by pools of water that have accompanied the magma from the bowels of the earth. A larger eruption and more steam and ash explosions are inevitable. But still nothing as large as 1980’s eruption. But scientists will tell you candidly that they don’t know exactly what will happen. They have said in the last week that this would be a 1 or 2 size event, now they are saying that ultimately this could be a 4, 5, or 6. The 1980 event was a 7. The levels are similar to the Richter scale for earthquakes or the hurricane levels, each number is ten times more intense than the lower one.

CC: Jim. do you think Jesus will return to earth by cutting threw the magma and making a statement to mankind?

JF: What? No.

CC: Well I just thought ...

JF: No. Connie. This is a scientific, geological event.

CC: Jesus, or maybe a giant monster?

JF: No.

CC: I just thought…

JF: No.

CC: Thank you Jim. Stay safe, if a monster or Jesus comes people might panic.

JF:

CC: We will stay with you. Stay with us.Tonight we will have a Special Report on the Vice Presidential Debate, an analysis of the event late tonight.
