A Bit of Randomness

Most people go through life dreading they'll have a traumatic experience. Freaks were born with their trauma. They've already passed their test in life. They're aristocrats. --Diane Arbus

Already?!?!

Great; my unborn child already hates me.

For my grandmother's 95th birthday, the whole family is going to Morton's Steak House. Those of you who know me, know that I'm a big ole carnivore. Pretty much, just say 'fire' at a slab o' meat, put it on a hot plate, and I'm good to go.

A few weeks ago, while dining with friends, it was pointed out that rare beef is not a happy thing for the unborn (and therefore not a happy thing for the pregnant woman). That's ok...I can do this...I can eat my steak *shudder* cooked...if I have to.

But alas, this appears to not even be the case. While looking at the restaurant's website to determine what all I might want (just ask my husband how much fun it's been living with a indecisive me made more so). Much to my chagrin, the entire concept of eating beef is repulsive. I had to close the page immediately for fear of being sick right then and there.

My very supportive husband sat there laughing at me as I wailed and attempted to rationalize with the Unborn. Obviously, this was an exercise in futility and is preparing me for parenthood. I get that. (However, is that the sound of my friends with children laughing?!?!)

Hopefully, my tastes will change once I'm out of the first trimester and balance will be restored.

I'm not holding my breath.
