A Bit of Randomness

Most people go through life dreading they'll have a traumatic experience. Freaks were born with their trauma. They've already passed their test in life. They're aristocrats. --Diane Arbus

What a Weekend

This was a long freakin' weekend.

Eric went out of town; he left thursday night and got home yesterday evening. Originally, I was all for the lenthy trip. True, I was jealous cause I couldn't go to the annual gathering (no kids allowed cause of a couple of other jackoffs) and this was the trip we were on last year when we found out we were preganant. But, it was 3 nights with the bed to myself and no snoring husband. I was looking forward to seeing friends and family, too.

I really should no better.

Dylan got sick last thursday morning. By getting sick, I mean the sniffles she had blew up (ha!) into a full blown cold with sneezing, coughing, watery eyes and a fever. As the fever came back that night (after a brief respite) I decided to keep her home from daycare on friday too. Which meant I stayed home with her, too.

Unfortunately, with a sick baby, everyone I had planned to see was off limits due to having their own small one that couldn't get sick, or being in the hospital and couldn't get sick or being on oxygen and couldn't get sick... You get the idea.

So Dylan and I went for a walk on friday (cause it was in the 60s!!! in January!!!). And a few friends stopped by briefly on saturday night. Otherwise, it was me with a sick, teething baby. And that made for a loooong weekend.

And yet, now that I'm at work today, I miss her like crazy. I don't even get to see her at lunch today cause the center is closed in observence of MLK, Jr day. And she's going for her four month checkup (four months already!) which means shots. And most likely a not happy baby tonight.

Bleah.

But I got *lots* of smiles and laughs last night and this morning before I left. So that should sustain me.
