2002-05-13 6:13 PM you say that nobody loves you... *sigh*
This has been another hectic weekend. After only three and a half days at home, Brian and I headed off to LA for Mother’s Day weekend. Actually, I think things would have been more hectic if we’d spent the weekend in San Francisco. Ira was working the hurricane/margarita/daiquiri booth at the KFOG Kaboom event again this year. The KFOG Kaboom thing is this fireworks show put to music after several hours of live music on a big stage off of Pier 32 in San Francisco. Last year, Blues Traveler headlined and gave an awesome performance of “the Devil Went Down to Georgia”. The weekend was pretty good. Hectic, but good. I keep having this paranoid fear that I’m going to miss whatever flight that I happened to have plans for… Understandable, I guess, after the New Orleans foo, but still. We ended up driving to the airport after work because we thought it would be easier than taking BART, having to catch the shuttle, and all of that nonsense. Feh. It seems like so many of the things I’ve been doing lately have had just an element of complication or annoyance. We get to the airport and the plane is delayed. The second rate (read that as cheap) rental car company picked us up in a spacious van, but the driver smelled like he ran a marathon a week ago, and hadn’t bathed since. They gave us a better vehicle than we intended, but failed to mention in any clear sort of way that we needed to *bring* the insurance card to waive the insurance fees. Lots of *yea* that’s good! *yuck*, that’s bad! OH! To anyone reading this who intends to use “Fox Rental Car” or “Payless Rental Car” BRING YOUR INSURANCE CARD WITH YOU! Okay, I’m done dispensing free advice. At least for now… Brian and I got in to the Valley at around 11:30 or so. We hung out with Brian’s brother and got the lowdown on the newest addition to the Shenson family, lil Dylan. We all ended up crashing after a bit, only to be woken up at a bright and early 6am by screaming child. Yea! I was determined to sleep thought it, but a phone call at around nine finally got me out of bed. I stumbled, half-asleep, to the front room where Brian, his brother, and the little were transfixed in front of the TV. More specifically, they were in front of the PS2, playing Knockout Kings. It was a very fun game. I didn’t end up winning any fights, but I played all 10 rounds and held my own… Anyway, the day part was pretty relaxed. There was general hanging out, breakfast, walking the baby and the dog. When Brian’s mom got home from work at about 6pm, he went over and help sort out some boxes that he was going to store at his bro’s. (Back story in 25 words or less: Brian’s mom just broke up with old boyfriend and is moving into a smaller place. Not enough room to store comic books and coin sets, etc.) And I took a little nap before dinner. I really intended to sleep for maybe a half an hour or so, but ended up sacked out until after 7. I woke up and got ready to go out to a mother’s day dinner thing with the Valley Shenson contingent. About halfway to Brian’s mom’s place, I got a horrible nasty stomach ache thing. *sigh* it happens sometimes. But it passed and I was able to enjoy yummy dinner at this place called Pinot. After I (and everyone else) was thoroughly stuffed to the gills, Brian and I headed off to meet my mom for dessert at the Cheesecake Factory in Marina Del Rey. On the way, we too a wrong turn and ended up driving around for awhile. *sigh* It wasn’t that bad, just a little annoying. After cheesecake and sweet tamale cakes with mom and her boyfriend, Brian and I headed back to the Valley. The next day, we had a leisurely sleep-in sort of day, moved some boxes, and hung out with the baby. Just on our way out the door, Brian noticed that his Palm Pilot was missing. *sigh* What an end to the weekend. We ended up making it home in time for the Simpsons, minus a Palm Pilot. *sigh* I’m tired. Work is running me ragged. I’ve been doing too many things and have not been resting enough in between. I want to sleep for a week… Oy. I’ll finish the New Orleans banter soon… I promise. Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
