The ferrets are: sleeping

Weather: clear and cold and snow on the ground

Reading: same thing I was reading earlier today

Listening to in the car:

A happy year coming up. I'm not sure what it will hold, but I'm pretty darned sure it's going to have a new house in it. We made a formal offer. Offer was accepted yesterday. Mortgage broker says that it looks good, very very good. It is a nice house, it is new, and it is basically finished. The cleanup remains, and the landscaping (the front yard's included, the back yard is on our own) and the installation of a range. I wanted gas, and they had electric in there.

The back yard landscaping -- I wonder if the neighbors will turn their noses up if we never do it at all. I wonder if I care. Actually, what I want to do with the back yard is to put in seed for a non-grass lawn. There will be grass in the front, little I can do about that for now, but I am not into grass. I never thought much abotu it till I worked for a Certain Unethical Lawn Company and learned how fragile grass is and how non-environmentally friendly it is to maintain it in our region. We do not live in the Great Plains, we live in the maritime northwest and stuff other than grass grows best here. Stuff like Douglas fir and salal and Oregon grape and ferns and trilliums. Grass? Not very well. Grass has to be mowed, and my back gets sore from mowing and DH's (darling husband's) allergies won't allow him to do it. I will get a push mower because I object to gasoline-powered mowers and if it is a nice new mower and a nice flat lawn then it will be easy enough to do with Kathy power.

The ferts; what will they do to our new house? Specifically, the new carpet? They are nto very well potty trained yet, and as they are ferrets, I feel sure they will continue to have accidents now and again. Mostly again. They are so stinking cute, though. I can't confine them to cage and bathrooms. They have a right to be out a lot and I want them to have their rights and may privileges as well. Privileges are to be earned? Maybe, but I dunno how to train these little ones. They are better than they were, but that is not good enough.

I am getting ready for the new house. Metally, if in no other way. We have to assemble some financial information. I got mine together some time ago when we were apllying to the credit union but DH hasn't got his stuff together yet. He has some difficulties with his paystubs -- the difficulty is that they were online and not on paper and he has none to show on hand. We will get all our stuff together, though, because this si both important and worthwhile. I am excited and scared and excited and nervous and my stomach's acidic and my feet are cold and isnt' that an icicle forming there on the end of my nose? Damn, it is!
