Political critics have their "hermeneutics of suspicion", and all its attendant glories. It occurred to me the other day that for sysadminery, I use something else: a hermeneutic of paranoia. The more I use it, the more truth it reveals about the interpretive problems I face every day (see preceding). The question is literally, a la Strange Days, "not are you paranoid, but are you paranoid enough?" And I have no idea how to play this important concept to the nice, kind folks of ACME Int'l... |
