Word Count and Uppity Characters

Yesterday and Today: 1639
Total YA Novel Word Count: 24,664

Not as bad as I'd feared. I was smokin' yesterday writing the woodshop scene (thanks again to everyone who has posted suggestions -- they're really useful!).

My characters are not being very obedient, though. They keep wanting to do things that aren't on the outline. And not little things, either. Big things, like time travel to the past and organize an art show in Chicago. I indulged the time travel thing and it got very hard to write and that chapter took forever. So, I don't think I'm letting them jaunt off to Chicago. Not unless I end up a few thousand words short and need to fill out the middle of the book, then we'll talk.

Uppity characters! They're never so hard to control in short stories. Man.
