The Siren Call of Girl Scout Cookies

Whoot! I had the best workout last night. It only took two workouts to get back to my pre-pneumonia reps/ weight and last night I even added some new exercises. I added back hyperextensions (lower on that page), mainly because on Tuesday I overheard this girl telling her personal trainer how fun they were. The new machine to do those on puts you parallel to the floor, so I thought they were really fun for the first 6, then painful near the end.

(By the way, I love working out without headphones on because I can eavesdrop on all the women receiving individualized personal training, watching them out of the corner of my eye to pick up some tips on form. Much cheaper this way.)

I also overdid my abs, doing regular crunches on the swiss ball, lower ab lifts, twists and twice the usual number of leg extender thingers. My abs are nice and sore today, but it's the one part of my body where I kinda like being sore. I like stretching at my desk and feeling that tight pull ouch in my tummy; it makes me feel all virtuous but doesn't interfere much with my life.

Of course, now I'm eating girl scout cookies, so my feelings of virtuosity only go so far. Damn those cute little girls selling their addictive cookies! Trefoils and Thin Mints will be the death of my health!

I had a dream last night where Simon (from American Idol) was ragging on me because I was too fat. I showed him how flexible I was, how much weight I could lift, and ended the demonstration with a fan kick to his head, telling him, "I think you shouldn't underestimate fat people." The shipping boy thinks it's a good thing that I work out my body issues in my dreams, but I think it was probably more that I felt like kicking someone yesterday before I worked out, but afterwards I was strangely calm. Working out makes me so happy, yo.
