This morning, I had to sprint across the BART plaza to catch a bus. I did it a few easy strides and wasn't winded at all when I made it to the bus door. A few months ago, a few weeks even, I would have been wheezing and aching from just that short run. Today I was actually startled by how quickly I reached the bus.

This is clearly working.

I lift weights at the gym two to three times a week. On the nights when I don't go to the gym, Tim and I take a 20 - 30 minute walk (except on those weekend days when I do a lot of housework; I can skip those days if I want to). We've only been doing the walking thing a week tops, but I'm already much better at it. But even when we had just started, I could tell that the weight-lifting was doing something, especially the squats -- I could make it up the big hill without having to stop to painfully catch my breath.

Yay!

The eating healthy thing is working very well too. I have more energy and I'm getting increasingly fewer headaches. I'm pretty sure I fought off a cold a week or two ago. And, in the first three weeks of the healthy eating, I have lost 11.4 pounds.

Huzzah!

The only wardrobe casualty so far is my engagement ring; it's getting so loose that I'm afraid I'll make one of my flamboyant hand gestures and it'll go flinging across the room (or, worse, street), so I'm either going to have to wear it on a different finger or on a chain around my neck. I will eventually get it resized, but I don't really see the point until I lose all the weight that I can. That's, um, many many pounds away still, so until then, I will be patient.

Joyously patient.
