I must have been in the middle of selling, ah, marital aids over the phone when he tried to call me. My voice mail light was flashing when I finished the order, and while I sometimes don't check it right away, I figured I'd do it so I wouldn't have to answer any phone calls that might come in while I was doing so -- my voice is back but using it too much hurts.

It was Tim, sounding oddly manic, telling me he had something to tell me and to call him back right away. Worried, I called him. Busy. Tried the alternate number. He answered.

He told me he was going to be in Best American Short Stories.

Holy shit!!

I squealed and congratulated and exclaimed until I literally couldn't do it anymore (which didn't take long, because of the sore throat). Tim's going to be in The Best American Short Stories! Even better: it's coming out in October, and the story is a Western... perfect timing and theme for his Rangergirl novel coming out in December.

I'm just beaming with pride over my pook! Yay! This is just awesome!

Yeah, I think I made a wise decision when I said I'd marry him. He's definitely a keeper.
