I can't believe I keep forgetting to link to this really wonderful review of When We Were Six at Green Man Review. It's always nice to get a good review, but this was also a very thoughtful, insightful and intelligent review, which makes it even better. I think this is my favorite quote from the review (though the whole thing is great):

"The photographic aspects of Shaw's writing should not come as a surprise, considering the fact that her photographs appear both in Flytrap and in When We Were Six. Shaw's sense of landscape and architecture, form and detail, often adds to the vividness of her stories, adding an almost tactile sense to the prose."

I also love it that two of the three stories that she calls retellings of traditional stories weren't intentional when I wrote them. "When We Were Twelve" was an intentional retelling of "The Twelve Dancing Princesses", of course, and I realized that "Restoration" was a "Beauty and the Beast" type story soon after I'd finished it, but I hadn't thought of "Mountain, Man" as having echoes of "La Belle Dame sans Merci" before this review. Very cool!

I've been very slow on my writing lately, but getting a review like this is certainly inspiring! I think I'll revise some nearly-there things this weekend...
