2006-04-10 4:57 PM Yes, thank you, I *AM* going to the Hooky Lau. I really really really don’t want to go to rehearsal tonight. I don’t care for the music much and it’s a gorgeous day and what I really want to do is go home and go to a park with The Man and The Baby and walk around and look at stuff and give names to the stuff and be outside and breathing.
But. If I decide to play hooky and go home, then really and truly The Man should go to his own rehearsal. So there shall no happy family park times for me today. I should have worn more sensible shoes. I could have gone walking somewhere after work today. But the ones I wore have chunky heels (not good for springtime muck) and they’re getting funky on the inside and they rub my feet funny. I just don’t think, do I? In a little while, when he has left work, I will call The Man and get him to convince me to go to rehearsal. He’s Very Practical like that. In the meantime, I will bother you, gentle reader, with this completely pointless entry. So can I brag a little bit? Not to keep harping on this, because – believe me – I am fully aware that it was just one modest little song in a cheesy small town variety show, but… I was talking to a friend of mine over the weekend and she said that the day after our variety show triumph, she was at a party with a bunch of theater people*, and many of them had been at the variety show and people at the party were actually talking about how great we were. Is it me or is that really cool and yet just a little bit sad? *I hate theater people. Anyway. Consider my horn tooted. So The Man just called and he was no help at all. We’ve decided that since this is one of the first truly warm days of spring, it’s a religious holiday and, being a religious holiday, we need to spend it in church (i.e outside). So I am going to wrap up what few work things remain and then I am off to enjoy some sunshine and trees and birds and baby time. Boring British music be damned, I am going outside to play. You should too, OK? Reading: Harry Potter & the Half Blood Prince Hearing: Birds Needing: Vitamin D In My Car CD Player: Nothing. I finished another book on CD (a trashy detective story called Shrink Rap, by Robert Parker) and haven't started the next one yet. I don't think I'll be starting one today either because (I mean - have you looked outside?) clearly today is a day for driving with the windows and the sun roof open and singing loudly and badly for all the world to hear.
