2006-07-21 1:00 AM On the hazards of being a vegetarian Of all the freaking things…
My neck and face got burned by an exploding piece of tofu today. In three places! The spot on my neck* actually blistered! *Well actually it’s really that one spot. You know – the one where in the English Patient he tells her that her husband may have the rest of her but he has that one spot? That little divot at the top of your collarbone. Does it have a name? Help me out here guys. I’m sure it’s called something more sexy than a divot. My kingdom for an aloe plant! (To be fair, I have a huge one at home – but that’s not helping me very much right now, now is it?) So I am stressed beyond stress this week because of tech week, my neighbor, my job, etc. But at least I learned that the cyst that I have in an, ahem, very personal location is in fact just a cyst.** So your good friend is not starting chemo any time soon. So that’s good. **Because we share a brain now more than ever, The Man and I each came up with the following, independently of one another: “A cyst is just a cyst, A stye is just a stye”. We thought it was hilarious, but we are dorks. But what I didn’t like was when the doctor started talking about a baseline mammogram. I am so not old enough for that shit. Couldn’t one or two of you guys just squeeze my boobs instead? The show is coming together really well. I am starting to feel like I know what I’m doing and not just sight reading every night. I hit my low on Tuesday when (you may recall) I was it a bit of a mood. But I’m doing much better now and even enjoying myself. And we even have the night off tonight (opening night is tomorrow), which is unheard of. I plan to catch up on laundry, maybe even clean the litter box, and make sure The Baby remembers who I am. Perhaps I’ll even get to spend a little time outside. Where the sun is. So check out my latest obsession.*** One of my regrets is that when we were in China, I didn’t think to seek out a music store and check out some Chinese instruments. We saw these played when we were there and I saw one souvenir-y one but should have gone to an actual music store to get one. But I will have one some day. Oh yes, I surely will. ***If you have a chance and/or you’re not sure what’s so cool, check out some of the music samples on this site. Of course, maybe I’m the only one here who is enough of a music nerd to be all excited about this. That’s OK with me, I guess.
