2013-03-05 11:09 AM Shaking it up! Okay. I'm so excited. I signed up for a Shakerag Workshop for this June. The workshops last one week and attract some of the finest artists and craftsmen in the whole wide world. Seriously! Global representation is also found among the participants because people are willing to travel great distances to experience the talent and uniqueness. I'm so lucky because I have to drive a scant distance to participate. The workshops are right up the street and right up my alley! I would go for the food alone - well, maybe. We're served 3 organic gourmet feasts each day. I'm not fibbing. The foods are beautiful and delectable.
I've signed up for Making Words led by Sandra Brownlee and Warren Seelig. You should take a moment to stroll through the website. It was hard to select just one workshop - I want to experience them all! If anyone is inclined to join me or enroll in any other workshop that week, I have a lot of space and beds and hospitailty to offer. Shakerag Workshops I've participated in Shakerag before and have always been so impressed with the caliber of the experience. One summer I learned how do Ethiopian Bookbinding. It was satisfyingly intense because of the intricate and precise process, and I think the results were amazing. Below is a sampling of my Ethiopian bookbinding. It was a tribute to my mother. We started with raw materials - slabs of wood. Esmeralda (Essie) was a favorite cat when I was young. My mother named her. That's also my mother's spaghetti recipe with her secret ingredient revealed. I also took her handwritten letters and trimmed portions to use in this book. As always, thanks for listening. xoxo Read/Post Comments (7) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
