- Mae West An angel can illuminate the thought and mind of man by strengthening the power of vision. - St Thomas Aquinas I saw an angel in the marble and carved until I set it free. - Michelangelo I've collected Helene Lacelle for many years... or at least kept up with her rising star of engaging talent. I recently ordered two of her handmade books. Some of her books she writes and illustrates. Some books she does only the illustrations or binding. I say *only* lightly because I am so taken with her art - my heart trills with gratitude for her visionary perceptions and use of color. I've also done binding and know the precision required. There's something that transcends wonder when I hold a handmade book. It's like the preciousness stirred into a celebratory cake. Wisps of love and care levitate from each page. This is why I collect. To surround myself with luscious tiers of creativity. Below are photos of two prints and the books: History & Mystery of Angels The Baby Bakery Helene surprised me with the two signed prints. I wish you could've seen my face as I immersed myself in these discoveries. *good sigh* Watch Over You (isn't this over-the-top marvelous!) Yellow Bird History & Mystery of Angels ***** I found the quotes at the top of this page on the opening page of History & Mystery of Angels. Michelangelo's quote especially *wowed* me. Are we all angels in marble striving to be set free? I really liked the quote a lot and then some more.
