Went to the doctor's office this morning and had a strep test, since this soreness in the left side of my throat was still lingering even after a week. The test came back negative, which is good. I had strep throat a few times as a kid, and it's truly an unpleasant experience. The physician's assistant who saw me said that it was probably just a small virus, and the only thing she could give me was her best wishes. Which made me smile, then curse her under my breath.

This weekend I'm heading over to Chapel Hill for the North Carolina Literary Festival. It's totally free and looks like a lot of fun.
