The scariest thing in the world is the thought of raising children.
There is no more important thing, and no greater responsibility that I can think of, than taking care of a child, and raising them to be a healthy, socially adjusted adult. I can't imagine how people can't be totally in terror of having that level of obligation to another human being for a lifetime. It makes marriage seem like a parlor game in comparison. I also can't understand how anyone could feel they were ready for it, or even that they could get ready for it. There's plenty of opportunity for errors in my life, and I've committed just about all I could that hasn't gotten me in jail or resulted in major hospitialization. There's just so little margin for error in child-rearing. I just don't get it. Read/Post Comments (2) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
