2005-09-05 8:01 PM How much more should we take? Mood: questioning Read/Post Comments (0) |
The real aftermath of Katrina question I want answered is:
Are we, as the public, going to hold people responsible? Are we going to buy the excuses, the "I don't think anyone anticipated the breach of the levees," or are we going to keep demanding those who failed us by punished, and better systems be put in place? Will we keep buying the bullshit shoveled our way? Even the press are developing some teeth in questioning the abymsal failures at all levels of the government, from lack of preparation to the lack of understanding what was happening on the ground. For heaven sakes, NPR was pointedly asking questions and correcting factual errors listed by governmental officials during interviews. Are we really going to want to know what global warming might have to do with more hurricanes at increased intensity? Will anyone care about the moneys diverted from domestic disaster planning and spent on overseas wars? Or will the lies keep being bought?
