2005-05-12 2:14 PM Do Something About It Okay people.
I've found a target for my wrath.
There's an organization out there promoting hatred and the passing of laws based upon this hatred, calling themselves "The American Family Association," or AFA for short. They are currently sending around a petition to deliver to Congress which calls for a Constitutional Amendment outlawing gay marraiges. (Not to mention attacking Pat Robertson for saying that "Guilliani would make a good Republican candidate for President," based solely on the fact that Guilliani has stated that he is both "pro-choice and pro-gay rights." Seems that to be a "good," Republican, you can't hold any views that, " . . .drive unrepentantly down the wrong side of the moral highway." Yeah, these people scare me, too.) You know, last year at this time I wouldn't have paid much notice. They're an obvious group of right-wing fanatics pushing their agenda with all the "Love for their fellow man," found in religious fundamentalism of any stripe. But after watching the slow push toward Theocracy in this country, I can't help but sit up and take notice. On the other hand, I found a group that's fighting against this type of nonsense. (Thank you, Sue!) It's called the Human Rights Campaign, and they work for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender rights. Head over to their website at HRC.ORG and check out what they're doing to create a country where equality amongst men and women isn't defined in the bedroom. Help out if you can. Our freedoms are under attack, from extremists both foreign and domestic. Fight back. Joseph Haines, signing off from The Edge of The Abyss.
