Oh dear. Oh dear, oh dear. Why didn't I think of this?

According to the Post, with the Rockville City Council votes entirely counted, Phyllis Marcuccio has failed to win a seat by a very narrow margin indeed. The four seats go to the four top vote getters, and Phyllis came in fifth, behind incumbent Susan Hoffman by a total of 3,511 votes (16 percent) for Hoffman to 3,302 votes (15 percent) for Phyllis.

That is so obviously the electoral version of my recent submission history. Why didn't I realize it works both ways? That my long run of, "we agonized over your story for weeks before deciding to buy a different one instead," or "I would love to buy this story, but wait, wait, no, the project's cancelled," infected her campaign instead of Vote Phyllis taking its cue from the council race. I'm such a blind, blind fool!
