The sinus headache has manifested into something that makes me feel really yucky, so I may take a sick day tomorrow, or at least a WAH day, which could provide the opportunity for some writing at some point.

We flew into Madison on Thursday in the early afternoon and got checked into the hotel. I was rooming with Steve "Wild Man" Hockensmith at the Inn on the Park. We decided to wander over to the convention and see who was milling about. We ran into friends Jim Winter and Brian Thornton and all decided to find a good place for food an beer. Steve would have joined us, but he had a thing with this guy, so we went on without him. At the State Street Bar and Grill, we were treated to some great food and the first of mny rounds to come all served by Jamie, a most delightful, sweet, (and, yes, very hot) waitress, who sported a suicide tattoo on the inside of her forearm. We concluded that this would be the "official site" and Jamie would be the "official Super Waitress" for "Toronto 6 Revisited."

For those who don't know, two years ago at Bouchercon Toronto, an event took place in which six men consumed many drinks during the night of the Anthony Awards. The Six included myself, Steve "Wild Man" Hockensmith, Jim Winter, Brian Thornton, Pat Lambe, and the brilliant and lovely Mr. Ken Bruen. I won't rehash the whole story here, but imagine drinking for three hours and listening to Ken's stories, and you can imagine. But I will say this. We all had a little Ken bruen in us, when the night was over.

The Crimespree party involved more beer, a huge crowd, and a lot of fun. Hockensmith showed up, drank a few beers, and then promptly left because he had another thing with this guy. Despite plans to make it an early evening, so I could get my bearings, or maybe even write a bit, I stumbled in sometime after midnight.

And Bouchercon was underway. More later.
