Kirsten's new crack

Since my mom is visiting this week, I finally got off my butt and rented the dvd for the newest version of Pride and Prejudice (written in parts by Emma Thompson and starring Keira Knightley and Mathew McFayden).

Oh. My.

Mommy wants some of that. All these years (since 1995 BBC mini series) I've been holding Colin Firth up on a pedestal as THE Mr. Darcy. I saw the miniseries in my small apartment in Utsnomiya after my father taped it from tv and sent it to me in Japan. My super-gay next door neighbor and I were all crying and oohing and aahing over it. It's a special memory, really.

Anyway, for about ten years I haven't seen anything to match the beauty and fantasy of the BBC version...until now. This is a great one, folks. And Mathew Mcfayden's more emotional portrayal really hit me. After the movie was over, we sat through it all again with the director's commentary. And I NEVER do that. I HATE watching movies over and over. But this one, oh yes, for the scene where they are fighting in the rain and almost kiss, and for the sun coming up between them as he says "I love..love, I love you".

Sigh. Ah, romance. Move over Colin, Mathew's got it going on as Mr. Darcy.
