2008-05-23 7:27 PM Calexico and Border Deaths What do you get when you merge Tex (indie rock) with mex (mariachi)in terms of musicality? And throw in Corey Feldman playing trumpet (okay, not really, but he looks strangely similiar)
You get Calexico Click on the link to hear a youtube video of them covering "Alone Again Or". Deep loads of awesomeness. And then try to get that refrain out of your head. I dare you. And then if you like that, try Calexico playing The Ballad of Cable Hogue which is the video featured at the The Endicott Studio that originally got me started on them. Then, of course, you could also try Across the Wire which is an excellent song about the controversial topic of illegal immigrants. "Since the U.S. Border Patrol began to document these deaths in 1999, over 2000 illegal immigrants have died in search of a new life in the United States." Does erecting a wall ever really work? Granted, I don't live on the border, nor do I have to pay state taxes in a state where illegal immigration is common. That said, it strikes me that walls never really hold out the people you want held out. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
