Reunited

After two and a half weeks of mental anguish, my Powerbook is back.

The paperwork says:
PBG4, ECN, CASCADING
PBG4, ECN, CASCADING
PBG4, ECN, CASCADING
CLUTCH CVR, MAG
DA, MKE UJ-815-C 1X SLT SPRDRIVE D0CB MT
PCBA, DC INPUT, PBG4
Which as far as I can tell means it's got a new CD/DVD burner, a new clutch assembly (that's the part that includes the hinges), a new power jack assembly, and three of whatever an "ECN, CASCADING" is.

Probably $1K worth of repairs. Cost to me: Zip.

Well, not including the $350 I spent on Applecare two years ago. But that paid for itself with last year's repair.

While waiting for Apple to finish up and ship it back, I lost several thousand email messages when the mail program on Kathleen's iBook crashed. 99% of them were spam (I get about 1300 spam emails a day), but if you sent me something important after the 9th, you might want to resend it.

Also, on the chance you're considering long-distance air travel with two 7-month-olds, I recommend against it.
