2005-05-05 9:33 AM Marine Physical Fitness Training Kody mentioned that the Marine PFT consists of a 3 mile run, 20 pull-ups and 100 crunches. I'm the kind of person who does a lot better with tangible goals, so I've decided to pick this up as my next target for getting in shape. I figure... the Marines are probably in pretty good shape, right? With that in mind, I tried to extend my run a little bit last night. Google Maps says it is about 2.4 miles, and here is my new toy to show you the path that I took! When I finished, I did 20 push-ups (I don't have a bar to do pull ups on) and managed 40 crunches before collapsing. I noticed something VERY interesting while running last night though. I was about 3/4 through the 2 miles and was thinking how tired I was... but then I actually took an assessment of my body and realized that it didn't feel much different than it did at the 1/4 mark. So, why was I so tired? I think it was just mental. I decided to tell my brain to F off and listen to my body instead. When I got to the end of my normal 2 mile path, I really wasn't that tired. So, I kept running. I added another block to the path, but I'm pretty sure I could have easily got 3 or 4 more blocks. As I said though, I work best with goals so I decided to just keep adding another block onto the run until I can't handle it anymore. Current weight: 225 lbs (obviously an anomoly).
