Trip to the Yucatan Day 1: Tulum
Theresa has wanted to see the Temple of Kukulcan at Chichen Itza since she was 12 years old and I had such an amazing time last year so I wanted to go back. It sounded like a perfect match! We put together a trip for the autumnal equinox this last weekend!
We flew into Cancun, rented a car and drove to our hotel, Hacienda Chichen on Saturday. The entire day was spent traveling, so our real first day was Sunday.
We woke up Sunday morning and jumped on the road to the Ruins of Tulum. We stopped off in a town called Valladolid and picked a random restaurant for some excellent food! It was sunny and warm when we entered the restaurant, but by the time we left the restaurant the skies had opened up....
We made it to Tulum a little late in the day, but still had time to see each of the sites. Tulum was a port city and a commercial center of the Mayan culture.
