A little while ago Shelley brought home a nice ad for a new book: it was chapter one in its own covers, designed to hook you so that you'd go out and buy the real book. It did, and I did.
Last night, about halfway through, I said to her "you've gotta go see about getting the film rights" because I like it that much and would love to see it on the big screen. Well my instinct did not fail me; Peter Jackson has already swooped them up: Lord of the wings heads for Scotland. The novel (series, really) blends the age of tall ships and the Napoleonic Wars of the early 19th Century with one of fantasy's heavyweights (dragons). The first book's story takes place in Scotland. I'm no literary critic to discuss the pros and cons of the writing or story really, however I'm finding it most enjoyable and I highly recommend it. Again, I'm only halfway through the first book, but here's to Santa stopping by with the other two books in the series. Click to buy from Amazon.com :-) Read/Post Comments (2) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
