I yelled at my lecture class today. We had completed an in-class exercise, but I couldn't get them to settle down so that I could continue on with the rest of the class. I tried to get their attention a couple of times, but to no avail. So, I finally screamed at them that if they didn't settle down, I'd leave the room and hold them responsible for the material that I would have covered.

Coulda heard a pin drop.

Of course, I don't deal well with anger. I flushed red. Felt embarrassed. Felt guilty. I even felt compelled to apologize to them, but reiterated that they were annoying me. Students who talked to me later say that they deserved it.
