Today was a pretty good day. I got to show lots of pretty images in lecture. Had chicken katsu and wasabi-mashed potatoes for dinner whilst hanging out with Greg. Most pleasant.

One of my favorite images from the Hubble Space Telescope features two galaxies overlapping . The background galaxy back-illuminates the foreground galaxy to the extent that astronomers are better able to study the interstellar medium in greater detail in the foreground galaxy than they would otherwise be able to do. It's okay - I hear you whispering "geek". I embrace it.

Another image that I showed today was one of Saturn's moon, Mimas. Mimas is my favorite moon in the solar system, for fairly obvious reasons if you click here.
